About MatLab.

What is MatLab?

MatLab is our Materials Laboratory, a carefully curated, digital. searchable library of new and innovative materials, finishes and examples, with a special focus on sustainability.
The library can be explored using different searches – including material, properties, uses, availability and Green Rating – and each entry can be downloaded as a PDF for easy reference.

Why Sustainability?

We know that sustainability has become a top priority for brands, consumers and communities worldwide. But we also know that appearing sustainable and actually being sustainable are two very different things. Therefore, when curating this database we have tried to look beyond the surface information, avoid greenwashing and present the facts in a clear and balanced manner. Every material in the MatLab database has key facts, images and a Green Rating. We’re also in the process of putting together a physical library in our London studio, showcasing some of our newest and most exciting discoveries.

Why did we set up MatLab?

MatLab was set up by a team of designers and creatives from Path to help us navigate the complex and changing world of new materials and sustainability. Initially designed as an internal tool for our design team, we soon realised that MatLab could also be a valuable resource for our partners and clients.

How do I access MatLab?

Access to MatLab is free for partners and clients of Path. If you’re interested in working with us, request to join here.
