Sustainability.

Sustainability is a complex, daunting and divisive topic, charged with turmoil and uncertainty. It relates to the planet, to the environment, but also to the people that inhabit it, use its finite resources, and to the socio-economic systems, needs and beliefs that drive this. As designers, we have a responsibility to try to navigate the intricacies and explore possible ways forward, and the materials and finishes we use play a key role.

Therefore, all MatLab entries feature a Green Rating, which is a starting point that helps make sense of how they perform from a sustainability perspective. We also have a dedicated section on Sustainable Heroes, a monthly selection of real-world examples by brands, cherry-picked for their innovative and exciting approach to sustainability.
